How is handlebar rise measured ?

I have decided to raise my riding position on my hybrid bike and have used my MTB as a starting point (I fitted wide bars with more rise on this a few years ago) I have measure this by balancing a plank of wood across the bars and then measuring the distance between the bottom of the wood and the top of the bars at the mounting point, Am I right ? This comes to 75mm.

Most manufacturers have graphics and dimensions on their websites which explain how the rise is measured..

The bars I would by will most likely be Cheap bars from ebay but at least if I look at a few manufacturers I can see what the general Idea is cheers.

unless its a pro slammed stem look and you will need a grimpuer
