Doctor to RabC: Mr.Nesbitt, you really need to lose some weight. Look at me, for example - I have the same waist size now that I had when I was 16.
RabC: Aye, me too, doc - av' always been a fat bastard.

Oh  sorry, my christmas diet has been a tad rich. Oops  beg pardin..again. Still it's all gone now, the cupboards are bare, thank god!
When the wind (outside) drops, then I shall start riding hard and walking fast and all will be well again, and hopefully, I'll be at least a stone lighter as well by Easter ^_^

Healthy eating is going well, and I'm going on the turbo trainer as soon as I can get Mrs VC off it (She would normally run, but you should see what it's like out there tonight).

I'm looking to shift 3 - 4 stone myself this year, (hopefully!). Having just turned 39 I don't want to be the size I am when I hit 39 + 1 next January!!!
I've used WW successfully before, and actually lost 56lbs back in 2006, but I manged to get it all back now so it's time to start over, although I don't fancy the whole WW meeting thing and don't like doing it online.
So i'm not planning anything specific diet wise, just cutting out junk, trimming down portions, getting out on the bikes more, and doing some Parkruns, http://www.parkrun.org.uk/
Fingers crossed I'll crack it this time. I keep telling myself I don't eat this and I don't eat that, (junk wise), theory being if I tell myself enough times I might actually believe it.

Mine started yesterday (1st day back at work) and is a very loose unscientific one of just cutting down the portions and the snacks.
2 st is my aim for the year, with the first of them off by April if possible ready for the SITD audax.

Good luck to everybody else that is trying to shed a bit of timber

Sounds like a perfect goal Potsy - I might copy you on this. That Spring Into the Dales audax will be lethal carrying extra weight around our bellies!

My approach is going to be fairly simple:
- make more sensible eating choices and logging intake on MyPlate
- no booze in January (this will be my 12th year of doing that) - just to prove I'm not an alcoholic!
- ride more - 50% more miles than 2011 and try to get in a metric century every month

9lbs to hit my 2012 target, which should shift the final 'tubby bit' in the middle following last year's more drastic 3 stone loss.

Starting OK - 1lb gone and I'm 1lb off my lowest last October when I stopped to let things normalise.

Lose 2 stone by the summer*. Hoping to do this by cutting out all snacking and taking up running too. Running shoes ordered & cheap running clothes in Lidl tomorrow!

* Motivation being that I will then fit into the two 'vintage' cycling tops I bought in Armstrongs in the Grassmarket just after Christmas!

no booze in January (this will be my 12th year of doing that) - just to prove I'm not an alcoholic!

I'm actually drinking more to try and shift all the booze I failed to drink over Christmas :cheers:and unless I am mistaken doesn't alcohol dissolve the calories of food eaten while drunk?

I did put on around 5lbs during the festivities so there is proof, if proof be needed, about my drunken eating theory!

Well, 'controlled' eating starts today - back in work so no snacking. No alcohol since the first and hoping to continue with none for the month (argh) just to ensure the weight is back down - work pants feel tight !

Other plan is get out more at weekends - the other 'plan' is to enjoy it a bit more rather than pure training - so may plan a cafe stop and grab a quick coffee (no cake) part way round.
