    If I was him I take all that heavy bar tape off and machine a dimpled pattern into the bars

    Looks a bit of an ergonomic disaster too - there is no way that can be comfortable.

    I don't care how light his bike is, it looks w@nk.

    That said - if its what he wants, all the best to him, after all, he is the one that rides it!
