Started "proper" work in 1987, so 29 years ago. So just over 21 years to go, unless the retirement age changes again (and it almost certainly will)
I'd had various other jobs prior to that, starting with various paper rounds (the worst was the local weekly free sheet - 365 papers, the round included 6 blocks of walk up flats and took the thick end of 3 hours to do, all for the princely sum of £3.65 a week. Yep, thats 1p per paper. And because they insisted on paying the wage into a bank account I had to cycle two miles to the branch and queue up at the counter to get my money. Funnily enough that didn't last long...).
