190km but with only 1900m climbing?

Well I did 143km on an off-road expedition touring bike with somewhere around 3000-4000m of climbing (and 15km underground in tunnels) on a world tour in a touch under 11 hours total ride time. But I started at 10am and didn't finish until 12:30am that 'night' (my avatar picture is the end of that day - North Cape in the midnight sun), taking meals, rest breaks, photo stops, clothing changes (those tunnels are perishingly cold) and various other stops along the way as well as complete an utter exhaustion, it made for an amazing day.

Of course it really depends on what you plan to carry, how far you currently cycle and on what bike. oh and define fully laden... in the UK it would be unnecessary even on a camping tour to be carrying the same weight as a world tour.

I've just done a very similar route (Stoke-on-Trent to Keswick) and I took my time over 7 days (5 days cycling). I've started ad nearly finished a journal on CrazyGuy if you want to get a feel for the route http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/11480

I followed a lot of the Pennine Cycleway and I'm glad I didn't rush it (couldn't of anyway as it was pretty hilly) cos it was a stunning ride, especially this time of year with the autumn leaves.

I finished on 235 miles, but they were tough miles. 50 miles a day made for a comfortable day of cycling.

3-4 days I reckon.

Just had a closer look at your map - seems the route isn't as similar as mine than I first thought. Seems you're going more for directness and speed. Evidently, I prefer a slower pace.

Give the guy a chance - if it is not there to climb you cant do it

Ive done 150km with 3500m out of Switzerland to the base of Rosemund and it was a 12hour day - but I wouldnt want to do it every day (mind you I did Rosemund and up to Val the next day and Isere, Telegraphe and Galiber the next ^_^)

In case you don't know fully laden looks something like this ^_^

PS - How is the rehabilitation going?

Hija...
Slowly - well the speeds are up now I have a road bike... holding around 22-23kph and each ride is usually faster. the cyclinglog ticker says it all... not yet gotten out with panniers on again, other than the college commute once a week and my leg is hurting badly this week so seeing someone about it tomorrow to see if I over did it with 32miles in a single ride (no stopping at all) and 41 miles with a 90th birthday party in the middle, both inside 4 days. Suspect I probably did over-do it, but I'm kinda impatient that way - 8 months on and I should/want to be able to do a touch more riding... Hoping for this Christmas, tour up in Scotland in the far north, but OH is veto-ing at the moment... still it's my 40th b'day so as far as I see it, I should be able to go where I want and as slowly as I want really... my leg may decide otherwise though! But with a chance of the northern lights - sitting in a tent will meet the requirements - tripod and big camera essential though!

Anyhow - back to the original thread....

What kinda experience of distance and what weight are you talking about? Do you frequently cycle distances with weight? or is this a LEJOG as a one off, no training and a strict time limit?

Our version of fully laden...
