How many Bikers? (of the motor kind)

I've never driven a car (well, done lessons but nothing beyond that), but before the cycling started I used to ride motorbikes up until my last one and I parted ways (was a Honda CBR 600).
I know I don't want a car, way to expensive if nothing else. At most I'll get the car license and insured on the misses car, in case of an emergancy, but I don't want my own car and I don't intend to drive her one unless it's really needed.

But I have been thinking about maybe getting a motorbike again. Ya know, just for longer hauls when you need to get to your destination faster than a bicycle allows, general tom-foolery etc. Probabley a CBR6 again because I loved that bike but maybe a 400cc job (had a VFR400 to which was great). Even a 125 would tick the boxes if I am honest with myself.

Just wondering how many other CC members ride motorbikes, but don't drive cars (or very little)

I'd love another! I really like the Victory Hammer S; 1700cc's of pure Torque!

I've been looking at CG125's, CB500's etc. just for the commute.

More recently, I've had a Suzuki SV650S & a KTM 950 Supermoto.

I still ride a bike, but not as often.

I have a Blackbird and once a year together with a few friends we have a bit of a road trip Europe where the roads are better and the traffic much lighter.

CBR 600's are still a cracking bit of kit.

There's a fella round these parts with a beautiful Victory, not sure but I think it's a Kingpin 8-Ball.
I'd like to have a big old cruiser but all the stuff I like is way out of my price range for now.

I got too old for the 600 RR's, although I had a zxr 636 which was the quickest thing I have ridden.

The Blackbird is still very quick but a bit more forgiving on my old bones.

That got me thinking I might have a look at something old, cafe runner type thing. I been out on a few bikes like that and they've got a charm to them

i have fancied that route myself, they are not cheap though.

need a bit more maintence to keep them reliable i believe,

I passed my motorbike test in 1983, 3 years before my car test. I have always preferred 2 wheels to 4, despite trying to give it up on safety grounds several times .

Started with a Suzuki GS125, then moved on to a GSX400F, Honda CBX550, then a Honda CBX750. At that npoint I passed my car test so the bike was sold to finance a car. A few years without a bike until I was bitten by the bug again and bought a Yamaha XJ600 Diversion, followed by 2 900 Diversions. Then a Fazer 600 until my current bike, a Honda CBF600S which I only bought 3 weeks ago (on the strength of getting a new job, which I just walked away from today; another story ).

I've been into motorcycles for far longer than bicycles. Over the years I've owned several bikes, the last big machine being a Bandit 1200, but of them all my favourite is my current ride - a Kawasaki Versys 650. It handles well, holds its own against much larger and more expensive bikes on club runs and returns 65mpg.

The guy watched me go around the block turning left, left and left and then the other way turning right , right and right. He said you look okay to me and that was it. Happy days

just started 2 months ago, mainly due to the fact its cheaper than a 2nd car.

done my CBT and hope to go further next year.

I had a suzuki burgman 400 maxi scooter before until some old folk wrote it off by rear ending me. Would love to buy another one day but my wife is against it. Drive a car every day.

I had and rode various Guzzis and Morinis over the years.

I miss them terribly, but I no longer have the nerve or the reactions necessary to ride a motorcycle on the road.

What staggers me is that I used to scare myself with 60 or 70 bhp - or even less.

There are bikes on the market now with 160+ bhp. Much more than that even...

Although tyre, brake and suspension technology has improved greatly and there are now wonderful traction-control devices, that is still a lot of Ooomph.

Ice is still ice; diesel is still diesel and.... Oh God. I just blinked and saw a pipe and some slippers coming my way.

Thats a nice bit of kit.

I have never ridden a buell, I had a v rod for a year and it was very well put together from quality materials.
Better quality than the japanese stuff anyway.
