London, Amsterdam, Rome, Pristina, Skopje.

If we're including Bailwicks, Provinces and Principalities you can include St. Helier, Cardiff, and San Marino, Belfast, and probably a couple more.

(For the rest of the world - Singapore, Muscat, Manama, Riyadh, Kuwait City.)

I was very fortunate in one of my previous jobs to have travelled to all of the Western European capitals apart from Copenhagen. This continues to elude me, despite going to Denmark several times. Is it any good?

I'm fairly biased, having lived there for the better part of 10 years, but I'd say yes. Expensive, but nice.

State capitals ; London Paris Madrid Lisbon Rome Brussels Luxembourg Bern Vienna Berlin Prague Budapest Bucharest Ljubljana Warsaw Moscow Zagreb Belgrade Sofia Athens Riga Vilnius Tallinn Helsinki Stockholm Copenhagen San Marino Sarajevo Podgorica Valletta
+ capitals of large 'national' regions that are not states: Barcelona Bilbao and Edinburgh, and Cardiff (transit only)

Also maybe some should count twice: Berlin as capital of the GDR and united Germany, Belgrade as capital of Yugoslavia and Serbia, and London as capital of the UK (a state), and England (a non-state 'country').

Edinburgh is a lovely city and certainly worth a visit. I have been a couple of times and did new year there too. That was awesome.

Not too many capital cities, but notably Montevideo. What a strange mix, some of it's modern with very european shopping centres, some endless lovely looking beaches that just seem to go on for miles and miles, then there's old rundown industrial looking areas, shanty town type settlements, very good roads in places...with cars and trucks that range from very modern to wheezing 1950s old bangers.

Prague would be cheating, i spent the night there but didnt get out of a hotel bordering the airport.
More or less ditto Madrid.
Cairo...WTF ... THE most insane place ive been to. The traffic, the noise, the constant beeping, the multitude of people, endless red brick housing blocks would be the best word for them, almost every one of them with a pile of cr@p on the roofs...insane.

Dublin, London, Cardiff, Paris, Amsterdam, Warsaw. Not many there and in no rush to see many more. Not a great city person but I did enjoy London Amsterdam was just ok and I loved Warsaw but then I like Poland anyway.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
On the assumption that Reg's list is basically complete and correct (it's not 100% - Ankara isn't a European capital), I'll use it as the basis for mine.

London
Edinburgh
Cardiff
What's more, I've cycled to all three of those, from home, London and Guildford respectively - and since I've also done Guildford to London I can claim to have joined all three up on a bike.
Athens
Amsterdam - Schiphol airport in transit only
Brussels (mis-spelling there, Reg)
Dublin
Helsinki - airport in transit only
Lisbon - airport only
Ljubljana - airport only (can you sense a theme - and it wasn't the capital at the time, but a Yugoslav city)
Madrid - railway station in transit only, just for a change
Monaco
Paris
Rome
Stockholm
The Vatican
Vienna

My list is not as extensive as the original posters but I do have snow globes from two of the capital cities that I have visited:

Paris
Berlin

Does anyone have a bigger collection of capital city snow globes?
