How many non Scottish people like Whisky?

The reason I ask is I was reading a book Mrs G bought me about Whisky last night and how widley it's exported and loved world wide.

I then was thinking back to when you first taste it. It's vile. No sane person in their youthful drinking days could possibly genuinely like the stuff.

Over the following years I persevered every now and then as I'm Scottish/Irish and it's part of your heritage I suppose, and you learn to love it. It takes time though and if I wasn't Scottish I'd probably still think it's vile. It's like vodka. Find it neat vile and with a mixer pretty tasteless and just a means to get pished so never touch it.

I like it! Laphroaig is culture of the sea and for 'everyday' then it's Cragganmore.
Oh, and I quite like Bowmore c1948 Llagavulin - all sorts really...cask strength stuff in those nice clear bottles mmmm
