Everything washed after every use (except gloves - they get washed when they start to honk or look filthy).

I sweat a LOT (even when sitting still in summer). My cycling clothes are clean in the morning, yet after a 1/2hr ride to work they are stinking to high heaven. I hang them over the divider between my desk and the window to let the sweat dry off, and the smell envelops my desk area all day. My colleagues love me in the summer!

My kit gets washed only once or twice a week, but given that I have many sets of lycra, I still wear a fresh set every day. The exceptions are jacket, gloves, and tights, which probably get washed every 2 or 3 uses to keep these upper layers fresh.

Once a week, at weekend, ride for an hour a day, sometimes more, it doesnt really smell and I give it a good sniff to check, who am I going to offend with some minimally whiffy cycling bib shorts and a slightly sweaty top, get to work and have a shower, clean work gear and put it on for the return journey, take it off at home and have a shower, stick it in the wash on Friday, the washing service isnt good enough in this house to get it back any quicker and I only have one pair of longs.

I think that having a clean pair for the return journey is a bit anal (pun intended) and thats ten changes over a week, ten garments through the wash and the associated energy to clean it, not very eco is it !

I cant see the issue, you are on a bike, in the open air, moving at a fair speed, any minimal smell is left behind and would be covered by the muck spreading, diesel fumes, car interior smells, fag smells, wood fires etc etc. I stop, get a shower, change into clean work gear and very rarely does anyone sniff me in the 2 minutes from bike to shower.

You lot wouldnt last long in the forces, not that I would, but it would be the whole getting shot or blown up whilst being told what to do thing, not being a bit sweaty and not beign able to have fresh gear.

Though I have to concur, my stuff, due to the weather is disgusting today, may well put some clean bib shorts on to appease those of a delcate nature.

Plus a good waft makes that scalp all the more satisfying

Nothing has dropped off, turned black or got infected.

Ok, Ok, will change them more often, well, I have two pairs of bib shorts anyway and will alternate in case anyone meets me and feels the need to breathe deeply when trying to keep up

If you think about it, on a typical day you would wear your normal undies for say 12 hours, say my commute is a half an hour twice a day thats five hours a week and I wont have gone to the loo either so its probably more minging not changing undies every two hours during the day, even allowing for sweating when cycling. In case you were wondering I do change those every day, no turnign them inside out or bashing them with a Toffee hammer .

Hygiene, if nothing else, you minger.

to expand, saddle sores, fungal infections in groin/armpits/feet, other types of infections, rashes, skin problems - not currently having any of these doesn't mean they can't happen and poor hygiene increases the chances - if they do happen then the best chance of shifting them, with minimum time and pain, is top notch personal hygiene. It really has bugger all to do with how you smell to others.

Plus clean people go faster:laugh:

people in my office aren't awfully keen on someone reeking of stale sweat and I rather agree with them

I've never ever washed gloves or overshoes or ever thought they needed washing either
