How much booze will you be having this Christmas/New Year?

Just found out how my new year's eve is going to look.

We're at least six (three couples so far) and me and the misses are the youngest by a few years. What I thought was going to be a local do (her friends live 2 miles away) is now 50 miles away at their summer house, and they just want to drink - a lot. Seems like we have to overnight and come back on Jan. 1st. I leave early on the 2nd to fly to India and could without spending too long with pi$$ed Norwegians - it's not a lot of run.

Plenty here - In the new year, our local council's bottle collection folks are going to need to send an extra lorry!

Had to have a few of these tonight as I'm up driving early today and there is a huge chance of getting stopped this morning in particular.

They were surprisingly okay.

Time you enjoyed wasting was not wasted
After a dry Thursday and a lovely clear head on Friday morning, the Christmas drinking resumed on Friday evening.

Me and Mrs R braved Storm Barbara and walked round to the local micro pub around tea time. Mrs R is usually just a half of lager girl, but for some reason she was a bit more adventurous last night and joined me in supping a few Titanic Plum Porters....she still insists on drinking halves, but I insist on drinking pints....then we strolled home and I had a couple of bottles of Wainwrights pale, then our daughter came home from an evening out and we had a pleasant chat for an hour or so whilst drinking gin and Fever Tree. Went to bed about midnight and woke up about 2 hours ago with a far from clear, somewhat painful head, which has a thought bouncing round it along the lines of...."Why did I drink so much last night? I'm only going to have a couple from now on"....yeah, yeah, yeah, pigs might fly too.....until tonight then...

This really is an exquisite beer.

Think you'll find we are well known for drinking heavily, and we don't get it for free

I've decided to join the great swathe of piousness on this thread and drink no alcoholic beverages over the Christmas period.

Mmm, interesting use of the word pious, which means devoutly religious.

I suspect you meant sanctimonious, not that anyone in this thread has been.
