I use Barclays pingit between most friends and family and it works great. As I understand it thats a barclays branded version of mPay?
I think so. And it's Paym, not mPay - I was wrong earlier. Apparently H/BoS/Lloyds/TSB let you Paym through internet banking but most of the others currently only allow you to send payments through their mobile apps. I don't want their farking apps (link NSFW) for various reasons.

I believe the margin on food and drink is fairly low if it's the sort of stuff you get at the cash and carry rather than freshly made, so I can understand the transaction fee from the small shop, where perhaps they don't take card that often.
The transaction fee rates are much higher for low volume users, too, which sucks.

I now buy most things by just using the phone to 'tap and go'
(and as it works on my fingerprint, it's more secure than a card or cash)
How do you work that out? I've yet to see someone exploit a credit card directly, or even connect to it over the internet.

Currently £65 as I am off to get drunk shortly, so need to pay for beer, kebab and taxi home.

Previous house was 100 metres from a cash point so no point in holding cash, now we live in the sticks having cash is useful, but it always seems to be required for school trips etc...

I find if I have cash in my purse someone will want it for something, so I avoid having it in the first place.
If I'm going out I take however much money I think I'll need, plus ten pound -just in case money. But day to day I have less than a fiver on me.

Anywhere between a tenner and about a hundred pounds at any given time. I've just looked now and I have a 20, two fivers, 30 Euros in notes, and about 7 pounds in change.

Give me your CC numbers and I'll demonstrate ........

With a phone that needs my fingerprint to activate, it means that if my card is stolen either physically or electronically people can do what they like

I think he means literally connect to a plastic credit card.

There is much more going on here than it appears, I would not recommend anyone to worry about the new wave of payment systems - unless you have a poor record with your bank and/or poor credit history. Retail banking has far more to lose by failing to rollout cashless systems than refunding a few dodgy transactions.
