How much is a 15 year old Nissan Almera worth?

At that price it is all about condition, I scrapped the last one I took in px. Not a bad car, but for that amount of money I would be looking for a 323 maybe.

I sold a nice little X reg 106 with 13,000 miles on it early this year for a bag of sand.

@Accy cyclist if you only need a small car see if you could find a Toyota Aygo very reliable economical and seem to pass the MOT's with little effort ! my daughter has had one for several years now, ok you may have to pay a bit more but as the saying goe;s you only get what you pay for.

I don't think it'd take a roof rack stable enough to hold a ladder? Besides i need a decent sized boot for my equipment. They look nice cars though!

If it looks a goer then buy it, I bought a cheap V reg Clio a couple of years ago with 28000 on the clock as a gamble and its still pootling along. Owes me nothing and cheaper than a visit to the Vets

We had one, not a nice car, but great value, very reliable, great spec. Difficult to fault really apart from being boring and not pretty. Look out for the wheel bearings, that was the only problem we had.

Agree, our 53 focus just went over 105k and had its first real issue - seeping clutch master cylinder (common issue apparently). Replaced for £100.

Yes, I paid £800 for a mint one owner 02 Zetec, 80k FSH (main dealer) with timing chain done, had it 18 months now and only spent £100 on it, a service last week, flew through the MOT too.

A friend has the Nissan Almera you're looking at. 1999 X reg, bought from a dealer as ex demonstrator at 6 months old. It's now over 200k miles, never been garaged, never gone wrong, always been serviced and worn out parts replaced. It is starting to go rusty now on both front wings and the front passenger door.

She's been saying she's going to replace it for at least the past 10 years, because she doesn't really like it?!?!

Looks a decent motor. If they get regular engine oil changes they should be fine. My 02 Primera has just hit 100k and I've had it since it was 10 months old.

Rust shouldn't be an issue on a non accident damaged car. The only thing you need to look out for is the radiator support panel that runs from each wing to wing. Nissan forgot to do any more than a thin layer of paint on these - it's not structural, but they can fail an mot as they have a tendancy to corrode. Mine has been regulalry painted up and had spray grease inside the panel to stop any rust.

The computer/ECU's are reliable and the cars can be serviced by yourself if you can change oil. I do my oil changes. Mine has a more sophisticated ECU and computer system, but it's possible to access it and reset service reminders and check airbag/engine management faults/resets. You can get the Nissan elctronic manuals off the net.

Thanks for the replies and advice! I'm going to pick it up in the morning. If i could send pics of it i would, the bodywork and interior are bordering on immaculate for its age. Yes it has tiny bits of bubbling on the wheel arches but apart from that it looks ten years younger. If it's as reliable as the Nissan Micra i had years ago then i'll be happy.
600 quid, 12 months MOT, £145 tax a year, £217 insurance and the tank is nearly full. All i need now is a roof rack and a CD player as it only has a radio/cassette player.:okay:
