So I bought this bike back in 2018. It's a 2018 Giant Propel Pro 2 (2018). I'll add the link at the end for reference of spec. Anyway, life has been busy and I haven't had the time to cycle for a good amount of time. I feel like it would be put under better care in someone else's hands.

The bike itself hasn't had more than 200 miles but one of the gear shifters is scratched quite bad after I lost balance on a hill climb.

Long story short, how much would my bike be worth now ?

Used to be you’d be lucky to get half to two thirds back of what you paid (assuming it’s mint)

Do a search on eBay for past sales
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=Giant+propel+2&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=0&LH_Sold=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=15&_stpos=SM12JU&_sargn=-1&saslc=1&_salic=3&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=50&LH_Complete=1&_fosrp=1

looking at this, currently around a grand would seem a reasonable expectation, depending on condition, size and your location (whether you be willing to courier, would open up the market but open you up to PayPal fraud so I wouldn’t risk it).
Every few weeks eBay do £1 max seller fees.
Gumtree, Facebook market place, cyclechat free of fees but a more limited reach than eBay

@DSK has a Propel, he may have some insight

I too think a bag of sand is about right, unless it's genuinely very, very low mileage and spotless order throughout, in which case another hundred or so. However, something as simple as a scuffed brifter will exclude it from achieving top dollar.

Lower price bikes, particularly in the sub 400 sheet price range, and going like hot cakes and prices have jumped accordingly. However, this is a more expensive machine with a much more limited target audience, and the holy water of C-19 public-transport-avoidance won't have wetted this ones head very much, if at all.

Good luck.

Prices are all over the place, some people are getting lucky and selling whereas other bikes that should sell are hanging around. I personally never pay over the odds for a bike no matter what.

If its like it is in the pictures, I'd say advertise it for £1400 expecting offers circa £900/£1100. The propel 2 is fine bike but, over the 2017 model, its the wheels and 52/36 gearing that will make it more appealing. ML and L sizes are generally faster to sell and be sure to mention the size of it in the advert.

Bear in mind I have seen 2017/2018 Giant Propel 0 Di2's selling in the current market for £1600 quickly and hanging around at £1800.

I've just sold a kids MTB and a tag-a-long for good money - the kids bike was more than double what I paid for it 8 years ago, and it was second hand to be used as a school bike.

But, my fixed gear sold for the minimum I'd accept, but it was over 10 years old, but in good condition BUT rather 'specialist'. I was happy to see it go to someone who would appreciate it.

The market is bonkers at the moment.

Its hard to value higher end bikes because when people are paying that kind of money they are likely to have a very small number of bikes they are looking at, so you are reliant on somebody wanting your bike that the time its up for sale. Whereas at the lower end of the market buyers tend to be less picky. Only way to tell the current value is list it and see who bites.

For a rough guide check similar bikes on Ebays recently sold.
