How much stuff have you got strapped on your commuter?

Well, in the past my commuter-bike has had two bags of sand and one of cement strapped to it, as well as the usual pump, tools, spare clothes etc (and I stopped off at the dingy-club on the way past for an hour's sailing).

Do people really get worried by weight on a commuter? It's not a race track out there!

My commuter/hack/everything bike is an old steel (501) hybrid with mudguards and rack. It's not light, but it felt decidedly zippy when I finally took my Snow Studs off and replaced them with 700x32 Marathons a couple of weeks ago. It has:
2 Smart front lights
2 Smart rear lights
2 panniers (only really need one for my stuff, but I might want to stop at the shops on the way home!)
In panniers: lock, puncture repair kit, multitool, mini adjustable spanner, waterproofs, pump, etc...).

Following a couple of unplanned deflations in quick succession last week, I've been commuting on my alu-framed (no guards, no rack) road bike with rucksack instead of panniers. What a difference - rather than trying to manoeuvre round the other bikes in the bike shed, I can just lift it over them!

Two front lights, a bell, and a little computer. A seat post for a child seat. Full mudguards. I leave my clothes at work and use a little backpack for the rest, don't need panniers, fortunately.

Cheating a bit, as I'm commuting on a tourer which I can't be bothered to strip down till it gets used again. It's a aluminium MTB and in current form comes to 18-19kg, so guessing must be fair few kilos of junk:

Front lowrider rack
Rear rack
Barbag clip mount, occationally the barbag
Computer
Large pump + luggage strap and spare bungees holding it to frame
Front lights + battery pack + couple of LED flea type back up thingies
Rackmount light + backup seatpost light
2 x mudguards
3 x bottle cages
3-4 plaggy bags jammed under the seat
Seatpost mounted cable lock
Hoseclips to lock q-releases on both wheels + seatpost clamp
Large rear pannier, containing:
Touring toolkit including neednose pliers, chainbreaker, ducttape, spare minipump, penknife, assorted spanners, allen keys, puncture kit, etc.
Headtorch
Sealskin socks, possibly a waterproof if not already using as a windstopper
Wolly hat
2-3 bungee cords
Whatever book currently reading during lunch
Work clothes
D-lock if planning on stopping someplace on the way home.
