How much VIM do you invest into commuting?

So just how do you cycle to work?

Indeed. I also do long distance commuting (14m) and could not keep it up the full week if I went 100% all the time.

You'd be surprised, you can keep up 100% at 14 miles (with extended rides) 5 days a week, and do occasional weekends, but you have to keep your fuelling right and be in the zone. Having flexible working hours helps too.

doing manual work, on my feet for most of an eight and a bit hour shift, if I combine to much vim and vigour cycling with a very busy week at work I've got Friday legs by Wednesday.
Well, my week goes from Thursday to Wednesday. Now, the last 2 rotas have me working 10 days straight with a stretch of 3 x 12 hours shifts in a row.
At 5mph, I'm still faster than taking 2 buses in and 2 buses back

Guess you must be made of something else.

I'm out of "vim" right now . Today is the 5th day in a row that Melbourne's weather has been over 30 degC, and the forecast predicts at least 6 more. It was 34 degC just now on my 33.5km hilly ride home, and my legs are just knackered.

I choose "bimble" because I don't race to work, but then again I don't slouch. I have plenty of bikes overtake me, but then again I overtake a fair few myself. I get a few "tuts" from impatient bike riders who probably feel I'm holding them up on their power ride to work, but I'll move over when I can. So I guess I tend to bimble the 12 miles to work, and then I bimble from client to client throughout the day and then I bimble the way home again. I used to race to work but came off when I couldn't stop in time when a car pulled out in front of me, so I've decided that going a bit slower is safer all round

My commute is down hill all the way.. So I cruise there so as not to get too hot (it's only 5 miles). Then generally use the return journey constructively depending how I feel. Spin and recover or sprint or turn a high gear to tear up my legs a bit.

Very often I leave my residence with the intention of an easy spin into the office. This seldom happens though and the furthest I seem to have got before applying some effort is about 2 miles down the road. By the time I am half way there, it's a main commuter strip and literally like riding in a sportive. I try not to hammer it but I just can't help myself!

Yep I would agree with this, I start off with good intentions but often cannot resist the urge of a chase down.

Why would I want to use a surface cleaner while commuting?
