The Cricket. Next year at Headingley, the third day of the test match, my eldest lad put in for 4 tickets. One for him and his brother, one for me and one for his father-in-law.
He heard back today and for 4 ordinary seats they want getting on for £600. I know it's an Ashes test but even so. We went last year to a test and the tickets were around £50 odd quid each. Lillies being gilded?
Looks like we will be watching it on the telly instead.

Maybe they can sell all the tickets.

A mate of mine has been an MCC member for nigh on 40 years.

He can get into Lord's at virtually anytime. Next year, cricket WC in England, tickets have to be bought by everyone (except the suited and booted prix who have no interest in the game, just the occasion).

Whereas my mate could watch any game for free, it will now cost him £90 a ticket for himself and £270 a ticket for friends (who used to be able to get in for a lot cheaper on a rover ticket).

Sport will, eventually, shoot itself in the foot.

I went up the rock in Gibralter on Saturday, it cost (I think) £32 for MrsF and I and took maybe 4 minutes to reach the top. There was a small viewing area that we walked around in about, oooh, 30 seconds. It was raining and cloudy too so not much to see, thought we'd go for a walk and for that we had to pay......... another £32.

So £150 for a day's worth of entertainment at a big event is cheap in comparison IMO. Having said that I'd have all cricketers put in the big cave I saw in the rock and seal it up.

Just bought two for headingley at £70 each! Ridiculous really but haven’t been for few years. Lords is cheaper and we got 4 days at MCG in 2010 for that price!

That’s what the current ECB bidding system for hosting Test’s brings. They have to make the money back or it’s good night Vienna Durham found that out the hard way. Membership is now just marketed as a way to get tickets early. Money has killed many sports cricket held out better than most but is catching up rapidly soon be just 20/20 take it or leave it.
As for what the great FST would make of it well can you imagine telling him and other former Yorkshire great’s you play for England and only England we decide if you play for your club?

Very true, and we are not prepared to pay that. So it isn't worth it. IMO.

They would not be worth it to me either, a few of the people I know would not think twice about spending that much. In fact my swimming partner is paying £500 tomorrow for a day in a muddy field trying to knock pheasants out of the sky.
