I never realised that racking was so twitchy to small knocks. There are other clips on Youtube which show exactly the same type of progressive collapse.

The initial impact was remarkably similar to any number of minor collisions I had with the racking at my last place of work while trying to drive an articulated forklift around the place. That never happened to me, though.

That racking would (hopefully) never have got through a HSE inspection back here in good old UK. So one hopes. I'm pretty sure that the very solidly built affair at my workplace's (sadly now defunct ) warehouse would have survived that sort of impact with little more than a dent.

'Twas not always so. I have seen a warehouse racking collapse. Not on as grand a scale as this one but still scary. No collision this: it just went spontaneously for no reason at all. One of our warehousemen was within inches of being caught underneath - he got the fright of his life! And it could have been the end of him.

Still, I suppose it is funny - in a way.
