Bah. About 6 weeks to go for me...

Not that it matters, I'm still waiting to find out what I want to do when I grow up.

PARTY! We can have a joint Amsterdame drink and 40th celebration for you.:evil:

Yes, it's about that time. Sounds like a plan! TBH, with the PhD on the go, I'm not planning to try and have any kind of big do - I much prefer to have some drinks with mates, maybe a curry.... And it'll be the York Rally just afterwards, so lots of people I know will be in York.

Maybe I should have a stock of cake on the Velo Vision stand, so that any forummer who happens by can celebrate with me... Actually, that might be the start of a plan!

I have no idea when you are meant to be grown up. Couple of weeks ago was out with some friends and they were all talking about houses and kids and the like and it felt like a double edged sword. They all said "oh, but you've got no responsibilities" like it's the best thing ever and it's sort of true, but on the other hand, all those things also carry a certain degree of happiness with them... Also, it's not really like I've chosen to be that way, it's just how it's happened...

49 here. T'would seem that rather than being a young forum most of us (well 29 at the last count anyway) are "old enough to be the fathers"

And be warned - that would be my age category of choice for a man....

I think you just have to find the best in the situation you find yourself in. There can always be a 'grass is greener' aspect to life but there's no point wasting effort envying what other people have. Make the most of the lack of responsibilities as you never know when your life will turn a corner and take you down a different path.

Blimey, that must have been a big fortune cookie to have all that in it!

You're quite right, I know that, and count myself lucky for example that I can live on so very little at the moment, because I can please myself about stuff and eat cheap sausages if I want. Also, if I do what I keep saying I'll do, I can just sod off round Europe on my bike once I've got a job and saved up a bit. There, I've said it again, and in front of witnesses....
