Surely with his track record of dabbling in drugs he wouldn't dare take them again to enhance his performance in any sport he competes in? I think he's a natural athlete who can still perform well in his mid forties. It makes you wonder how many TdF's he would've won without chemical assistance. I think he would've ended up as a 3 or 4 times winner of the tour. Fool him for wanting to be the man who won most tours, look where it got him!

Zero. That's the number he would have won without doping. Considering that until he started taking EPO under the tutelage of Dr. Ferrari, he won exactly one stage of the Tour, and his best finish in the GC was 36th in 1995. Which was the only one he finished of four he competed in. Lance was a total product of oxygen vector blood manipulation. DNF, DNF, 36, DNF, in his pre-EPO career. Compare those results to Merckx, Hinault, and LeMond who all stood on the podium at the end of their first TdF.

He was taking cortisone, testosterone, HGH, and anabolics before he became pro. He was just a very good one day classic rider who couldn't climb his way out of a paper bag until he started EPO.

Are you referring to the most famous riders recently namely Jens Voigt and Chris Horner. Chris Horner won the 2013 Vuelta a month short of his 42nd birthday. I'd like to think he did it clean. World class performance if he did and very impressive. I disagree with you, age should not be a barrier to success. Jensy rode in the Tour de France 17 times, completing his 14th at nearly 43. If you are competitive pro and enjoy your cycling into your early forties more power to them. I'm sure Voigt and Horner were paid big salaries as well.

Disagree strongly. I took up mountain biking at 32 after years off the bike, enjoyed it for 21 years then at 53 took up road riding. Now in my 60th year I'm fitter then I've ever been in my life and hope to continue to get fitter. My Mum aged 85 goes to a gym every week and puts some of the young women to shame, leads Ramblers' groups every week and is never at home, so that's what I plan to be doing at 85 when I'm not out cycling.
