How to clean your bike like a pro

So, Ive read some of the threads on Mickeling and comments on using pressure hoses...what's wrong with this? It looks easy and professional.

I do clean my bike like this .. every now and again ... I do nt see any harm in it given you use your head

Did nt get any happy feed back When I said Yes to it

Like I'm going to listen to that rubbish magazine video... They took degreaser to the cassette and chain rinsed the bike and dried it before stating your ready to ride with no mention at all of lubing the chain.
Just not good enough or complete imho

I use a 5 litre garden sprayer a bit like this one ...

I don't have a water supply in my back yard so this is a convenient alternative for me when I clean my bike. It uses a much lower pressure than those pressure washers so there is less chance of stripping grease and lube out of bearings.

Surely everyone knows a rusty chain gives you a better work out due to higher resistance.

I was thinking of the kind of person who points the high pressure water jet directly at bearing seals and blasts away!

Anyway, my solution works for me. I tried running a hose up under my back door from my cellar but it kept getting kinks in it and leaking so I gave up and bought the garden sprayer for about £7.

I used to use this during cross races, between warm up and race or as a rinse off before putting bike back in car, I agree it works. I will stick to the pressure washer now as it is extremely easy for me due to it being rigged at all times.

I use my mrs hairdryer to finish of,whilst dressed in my dressing gown with my initials hand sewn on it...

As in, I would never have guessed that in the absence of a relatively scarce piece of equipment like an air compressor I can use a towel.

Sponge, car shampoo and hot water. Simples.
