They will be best placed to give you proper advice.

From what you've said you need the following:

29" rims
8 speed cassette

No clue about the skewers.

Also you can put whatever tyres you want on there.

I'm looking into all options, including purchasing all the individual components and assembling the wheels myself. I've started looking at used bikes offered locally, because my bike is how I get around.
