How to get payment when selling a car?

I've bought and sold cars, and bikes, using bank transfer. Much easier now it's pretty much instantaneous. The seller doesn't hand over the keys until the money has appeared in their account, but that's usually 10-30 seconds.

I would think if you contact your bank first and tell them you're about to receive it, and tell the buyer to do the same, it should go smoothly?

I've only ever used cash when buying or selling a vehicle.

I always find it intriguing that the briefcases always seem to be exactly the right size so they are full of cash, never half or three quarts.

And yet some manage to get it all into brown paper envelopes. I suspect the briefcase of money is mostly newspaper padding
