I don't like "clean and linear", I'd rather have something which gives an "essence" of being something. I'm sure that sounds completely pretentious, but I know what I mean and it is not intended to be.

I have now identified that what I am after is known as an abstract tattoo, and have discovered an artist within a couple hours drive whose work I really like.

I have added to my previous ideas so I have some images to show her once I get round to making contact, which might take a while due to "stuff" getting in the way.

The Royal Navy used to have duty free cigarettes

To stop them being sold on the open market they were produced with two blue lines and teh words "HM Ships only" printed along the length of the cigarette

This was not a rare tattoo and I will let you guess where it was tattooed!

Ah, Blue Liners! My lungs still bleed at the memory

If I went in with something as simple as this and explained it to the artist would he/she be able to knock something up?

Here's my updated ideas, after numerous amendments. Hopefully it will give the artist an idea of what I am looking for - abstract flags, silhouette Angus and Bon incorporated into the flags and their signatures, and the band logo running diagonally across the flags; with the shape of the tattoo based on Angus's guitar (the stars on the aussie flag remind me of the controls on the guitar). I'm thinking it should be located on the shoulder as the guitar shape lends itself to the contours.

How about some profound AC/DC lyrics, 'She had the face of an angel smilin' with sin, the body of Venus with arms'?

I was considering that - actually, that line is one of my favourites - I might see what the artist comes up with and maybe suggest some script in addition to the signatures.
