How to insult a nation in 6 words

Maybe the scots don't drink that much because they're scottish but because they have to live with scottish people. Thus, justifying my own over indulgence in the stuff. Just thinking about my mother in la could justify 2 bottles alone.

What I think is interesting is the journalist's choice of Vodka as the spirit. It would have been a different headline if it read:

"Adults in Scotland are drinking the equivalent of 34 bottles of Cask strength Whisky each in a year"; or

"Adults in Scotland are drinking the equivalent of 114 bottles of Champagne each in a year" or

"Adults in Scotland are drinking the equivalent of 46 bottles of Loius XIII Cognac each in a year" etc

"Vodka is the perfect way to clean midges off your crash helmet visor."

Also windscreens, no doubt.

All the shops and garages around here sold out of screenwash during recent cold spell so used Vodka + Fairy Liquid. Worked great.

Hehe. You're probably quite right - thanks for the alignment. I just don't like sensationalist journalism, and for whatever reason, this one really touched a nerve .

I cannot see why. It is a factual statement. We Scots drink a shoot load more than down south. If it touched a nerve - perhaps it should. We have a problem and if this is the statistical average, by definition, roughly 1/2 the population are drinking more than this. So, take out all the tee totallers, all the Morningside grannies and you begin to appreciate that there is an alcohol problem.

So touched a nerve - crack on. I hope it touched more than the nerve and the information might reach the brain.
