how to stop headset spacers moving?

I've always used plain black headset spacers until now.

My new spacers have logos on them. I have 3 spacers and I've discovered that the middle spacer always moves (I start will all the logos nicely OCD aligned!)

Apart from using superglue or bluetak, how can I increase friction and stop the middle spacer spinning about? carbon paste?

Use a little strip of tape on the inside to hold the spacers together.

Is the top cap cranked down hard enough?

As asked, is your top cap tightened correctly as spacers should not move?

Tighten top cap before stem bolts.

Never had the problem of them moving but my spacer are plain black so maybey it wouldn't be noticeable anyway, then again the scratches dont seem to move as above check your bolts.

Just drill a small hole through it and and into the steerer, use a small black self tapper to secure

So long as the headset is tight, don't worry about it. Should have bought plain ones !

Buff the logo off.

seek help for ocd,or as above but do losen the stem when tightening the top cap,and rember to tighten them again

loosen stem clamp
tighten top cap
check rotation of steering for binding

the top cap is defo tight enough

as I've only ever used plain ones before I'd never noticed that they move (or at least the middle one of the three moves)

I've tried doing the top cap even tighter, headset is still smooth so will go for another ride tomorrow - perhaps the top cap wasn't quite tight enough?

It doesn't matter how tight the stem is against the spacers. The turning force will just push them a little at a time until it's noticeable.

you are correct - never noticed that before using plain spacers. I did however, have a bike that had a single 'X-lite' spacer which stayed in the same position. However, my current bike has 3 spacers and at least 2 of them move slowly, no matter how tight the top cap is tensioned.
