The fact that the car driver would possibly think 'bloody cyclists' is irrelevant. At the end of the day you have just as much right to use the road then they have.

Good post, Lee. A cyclist's priority has to be his / her own safety and if that means being assertive at times and possibly 'inconveniencing' the poor motorist, then so be it. In most cases this means only a few seconds delay for the motorist, with no real impact on his journey time.

I also think the majority of drivers understand this. I always hold primary when stopped at lights and seldom get any hassle, moving over to secondary as soon as it is safe to do so.
