How was your war today?

Nearly fell off on Thursday on a 90 degree bend going uphill where cars had churned a big patch of ice up and it had had refrozen, luckily managed to stay upright and take a wider line .Some nasty patches further down the road where the ice was all the way across so it looks like the gritters had not been out so i was glad i took the MTB although i was running conti travel contacts at 80 psi.
Rest of the week was no different to normal with everyone giving me plenty of room as usual till Friday when in the space of 2 miles i was nearly knocked off on a mini roundabout when turning right twice ! and then as i was about to turn left some numpty in a MPV decides to queue jump from the other lane to go down the same road and nearly hits me .

Local trip on the way back (last night) almost collided with a ped down Mornington Road Leytonstone,I was going fast down the sidestreet,ped crossed from the right (taking my concentration) and ninja invisible ped crossed from the left looking the wrong way,on the faster audax,saw ped on left when I was about ten yards off,(in the dark) even my three (<--edit error) front lights (one flashing on left fork trustfire 3.7v 18650 battery and one steady on the right fork trustfire 3.7v ,plus an AA battery led torch lower on the right fork.)didn't show him up at all,locked back wheel up in the slight panic but survived,no collision,ped saw me at last second also.I think the Audax is almost jinxed.Cars generally ok recently.

On thinking about this I think the reason the ped looked round was because my back wheel locked up.Lucky he wasn't deaf.(edit)

My 'war' was great, 20km down snow covered tracks at -10 degC on spike tyres. A rabbit did cross my path giving me evils... I shouted, blew my whistle and told it to search for itself on YouTube in an hour.

Thought I was going to finally have my war today, speeding down the road 'boom', at first I thought it was the bike, cue 'brown lycra moment'. Then there was another 'boom', somebody was taking pot shots at me, this is war. Then I realised it was one of those automatic things to scare birds from the farmers field

My war was great! I took the car and when I see the first cyclist I overtook him and gave him about six inches and then cleaned my windscreen so he go a face full of screen wash. Next one I overtook I shouted "You don't even pay road tax". My last one was the best, I put it in neutral and coasted up behind him so he didn't hear me coming, then I hit my horn! Did he jump!
OK, it's a big lie, never did any of that but had it done to me at different times.

Today I went through my normal battle prep: Stuck some Wagner on loud, tucked my jeans into my socks then lubed up my chain.

I love the smell of Finish Line in the morning.

Smells of victory.

I did pass another cyclist though and was thanked for it.

Not bad on a local trip to Homebase,Leytonstone,came out with a people carrier which blocked the junction at Harrow Green,I waited with the road blocker and was out of position due to the funny angle of other cars but hadn't filtered to the front as I don't like those pinch point lights in the Leytonstone direction.Mr beemer man about ten cars away on the other side of the lights gets outs and starts mouthing off,thought he was having a go at me but I remained calm.Turns out he was after the people carrier road blocker.He really had the hump.With me being originally not in a good position I blocked a car who seemed to be in a terrible hurry as well.Got out the way ASAP just to see him zip into the petrol station about 50 yards up the road,perhaps he was bursting for a pee.Oh how I larfed.

I generally avoid those lights and take to the backstreets.
