Not very mileagey compared to recent years, I haven't even counted the total. But I've been to a good few new places ~ remote rides mind, mainly Tyneside area, (I've ridden nearly everywhere over the years in the area where I live). I've enjoyed them all though, so that's good enough for me.

Far less distance for me this year. Probably no more than than 1500 km. The early part of the year was taken up with prostate surgery and recovery, quickly followed by heart problems.

Fortunately I'm in a better place now and have an ebike to help me avoid asking too much of my heart.

All of the above has helped clarify that I most enjoy shorter rides in unfamiliar places, so I'm hoping and planning some train and bike combination trips in 2026.

Still 8 cycling days to go before the end of the year but, as a general comment: in terms of overall distance cycled, my worst year since 2021 – with just a shade over 11,000km cycled (all of it outdoors).

All the rides were shared across six bikes – with the road bike (as usual) doing more than the others at just under 3200km. Managed to get all six bikes over 1225km and should improve on that stat before the end of the 31st. Added a seventh bike in November – a second gravel bike – still getting used to riding it but have high hopes of some good rides on her in the Spring of 2026.

12 metric centuries in 2025 which is my record for a calendar year.

Completed four challenges: Lunacy Distance, Lunacy Climbing, HMCAM and the ‘3 x 30min rides for 52 weeks’. Had to pull out of a fifth challenge – the MCAM challenge – because of problems in my house in August.

Improved my Eddington Imperial from 53 to 56 miles and my Eddington Metric from 79 to 82km. Would have liked to have done more than that – but it gets harder every year.

Closing in on 24 years of sobriety which has nothing to do with cycling but does represent another personal success this year.

Well I ended up with a recumbent and e bike !!!

A bosted back in march - temporarily lost feeling in my legs - then a heart attack in June.
For good measure my dog of 15 years unexpectedly and suddenly died in August.

But I'm mending now - back is pretty much healed and all tests on heart have come back good. Get a bit overwhelmed and depressed with it all at times.

So in answer to the thread title ...."shite" !!!!

Will hit about 18,700 kms after finishing the F500. 35 metric centuries, but too much riding inside - just under 8,000 kms outdoors. Weather in Jan, Feb, Nov and Dec hasn't encouraged me outdoors - started to really feel the cold this year.
Great July trip riding from Ventoux to Courchevel (including Ventoux, Ornon, Alpe, Madeleine, Meribel, Chapagny en Haut). Oh, and riding with Pauline Ferand Prevot for the last few kms of the Medeleine.
I've done over 20,000 kms in 24, 23, 22, and 20 so down a bit on the last few years, but had more holidays without a bike this year than usual due to my 60th, our 30th wedding anniversary and son's 21st.

Some good, some bad. I did enjoy several tours/cycling breaks and a few long day rides locally.

I had an aim of doing my first imperial century since before smashing my ankle a few years ago. I didn't quite manage that, but I did have a handful of 80+ mile rides, so not far away.

The downside was time off for a knackered back in August and more recently, a combination of work related stress, depression and low mood have left me without much motivation in the past couple of months. I've probably only cycled a couple of hundred miles at most since October  I need to get my head back into gear and get back out there.

10k inside is insane!
