I am getting a HTC Desire phone soon. All my music is saved on iTunes/iPod on my computer.

Is it a simple copy/paste to get the files onto the HTC? (MPEG4 files I think?)

I don't mind using the iPod as I have had it donkey's, but would like some/most/all music accessible on the HTC without the need to buy it all again on Spotify et al.

Anyone know/done it/found it won't work/had to 're-buy' all their music?

Some music with DRM won't work unfortunately. For other stuff, there's HTC Sync which will handle some. I use Itunes agent when I run Android on my phone but there are other apps like Double Twist which will handle it for you too (although I do find this one kind of annoying cos it tries to install on every memory card)

You just drag the files over on My Computer.

Agreed - no need for fancy syncing software to clog up your PC.

When you plug the phone in to the USB port on the PC you have options on the phone (charge only, etc). Choose the one that allows folders and files on the phone to be seen in Explorer on the PC. Use a Music folder or similar destination on the micro-SD card. When you disconnect from the PC after the copy, the phone builds a local database of the music bu artist, album, etc, based on the tags in the files. It just works, as they say.

As said by martint235, files with DRM won't play, but Apple iTunes has been DRM free for ages now, so that may not be a big issue.

Good phone too, BTW.

Thanks for the replies folks! I know where to come if I get a prob.

My Brother told me to go for the Desire HD, but considering I am upgrading from a brick, then the standard Desire will be more than enough.
