It arrived today, must say I am impressed by this phone. I love the built in gps on it. Only problem is getting used to the small keypad and its sensitivity.

Potsy, do you know the solution, you switch it off with the button on the top, then back on again and it loads the screen properly.
I have a Desire, and my sister has a Wildfire. I have also seen the Desire HD.
Desire > Wildfire > Desire HD
Wildfire is nice, a bit underpowered, but the pixel density is all wrong and teh quality is *shoot* compared to the Desire.
Desire HD is too big and also suffers from a funny pixel density (same resolution).
Camera sucks on the Wildfire, also does on the Desire but Wildfire is much worse.
Don't be a cheap arse and get a Desire, not HD, regular Desire - you don't see them around much on contracts now, consider buying sim free and getting a good sim-only deal.
Is the HTC wildfire tri band? ... i.e. will it work in the USA?
1900MHz will get you basic coverage in US and Canada, but as phil notes, not 3G. Whether this is a big deal for you or not depends on whether you can afford to pay data roaming rates in US and Canada, because for voice and texts I doubt you'll notice the difference
I got myself a wildfire not too long ago, it's a pretty good phone, though it's even better once you swap out the battery for something a little longer lasting.
