We used to fill our hubs with 3 in 1 oil and the spokes would be permanently oily for the first three or four inches where it was dribbling out.

I injected grease into the centre hole of a Campag Record hub. It takes a LOT of grease and the axle is very treacly to turn afterwards, since you are shearing about 75mm width of thick grease. I then stripped the hub down and it hadn't done a great job of purging the old grease (the holes in Campag dustcaps work better).
