You sold the wood burner !!!!!

That's an offence:cursing:

Not if it's gone to an electric guitar burner.

We can't have one here and it was taking up valuable shed space. It was not a big flashy woodburner and we can get another one when we find a place that will let us fit it. This one was not my first wood burner you know ^_^ While we are in HA property (while we are getting back on our feet after 6 months being homeless and 22 months living in a very old static caravan) we have to abide by their rules.

I am loving that guitar. Hubby totally holds you guys and especially @BigonaBianchi responsible for this whole guitar thing. All that encouragement has changed my life ^_^ Happier than I have been for a long while.

I need to get some switch cleaner on that amp though, its seriously crackly.

The complaining one, hopefully!!
Sadly not, its the chap in the next door block, ground floor. He only moved in a couple of months ago. They took all the money and tech in the house but didn't destroy the place as some burglers do.

Hello @Saluki

How are the guitar lessons going, have you moved on from Kumbaya yet? ^_^

BigonaBianchi

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.

Check your cables first for loose connections, and the jack plug on your guitar (is it loose?) . If it's a new amp shout nicely at the provider, if it's an old amp turn each knob until you isolate which one may be the cause, then spray some electrical contact cleaner into the pot. Is it a tansistor or valve amp?

Hello @Saluki

I bloody hate Kumbaya! Not that sold on Amazing Grace (I am going to be crap at church, I can tell)
I have 3 Little Birds sorted now. Not wildly fond of Love Me Do for some reason though.
The intro to Back in Black is coming along very nicely ta for asking, I am really loving Day Tripper and I can play a simple version of I Walk The Line using up and down strums and am working on more of the proper version, using what Leigh the guitar teacher calls "Boom-Chickas". I quite like the pumped chords in Common People and adore Louis Louis (Richard Berry) as its such fun to play.

I really cannot get to grips with YYZ (Rush) at the moment, so I will leave that for a bit and come back to it. Crazy Train (Ozzy Osbourne) is giving me issues so, again, I'll leave that for a bit and come back to it. My fingers are not quick enough as yet so I am doing finger exercises to strengthen them up and get a bit of stretch going on. I am loving loving loving the main riff to Jibboom (Vai) and Everybody Hurts (REM) is my go to bit of music for warming up and making myself feel happy after a hard day at work. It warms my fingers up.

So yes. I have moved on from Kumbyah ^_^

You are obviously a natural to have mastered so much in such a short space of time. My daughter used to play the flute, she recently asked me to sell it but I don't want to in case she changes her mind later and takes it back up. In order to justify keeping it I am having to have a go at myself, it was the only way to stop her insisting I sell it. Just learning how to blow the thing is trickier than it looks . I fear I will not be a natural at this.

Its a VOX Valvetronix VT30 and it seems not to matter what switch I turn, it all crackles unless we find a quiet spot, and its driving me around the bend. The input socket seems to be a bit tired as I have to wiggle the plug in it to get a connection. We tried it out in the shop a little over a week ago and it seemed fine but I am wondering if they had set the plug in 'just so' so it was OK. If I get the plug in a good position its fine for about 20 minutes and then seems to move a bit & it all goes quiet. I didn't try every permutation of all the switches in the shop though as there are 8 main switches with one or two of them having up to 11 settings (22 if you use the little button next to it - upper and lower case so to speak).
Its second hand but from a large music shop in Norwich city centre so I will go and have a polite word. They did say if I had any problems to bring it back, its probably just dusty and mucky inside but amps are a new thing for us. Umm, stupid question but is it supposed to buzz? I remember my brother had a lot of amps and I really do not remember a whole lot of buzzing going on with them.

Not mastered!!! Not by a long way but having a blast! I work quite hard and practice in 30 minute sessions. Sometimes I can get 3 sessions in during a day, sometimes only 1 and a bit. My guitar teacher is young and pushy and gives a lot of homework but doesn't expect note perfect by the following lesson.
Hubby doesn't practice as much as me but seems to be better, which is frustrating but gives me a bit of extra impetus to work harder. He has much stronger hands whereas mine are a bit pants. Too many falls of too many horses is the problem.
