We once nearly bought an Alfa GT coupé thinking it would be a more practical family vehicle than our 24v 166.

In the end bought a 159 2.4 diesel wagon. Spent all the money saved in fuel consumption over the petrol version decoking the dpf on a regular basis.

Out of the 4 options available to us, I would have ended up regretting them all, but that's just Alfa ownership.

I've only ever seen the one in real life. It's a kind of half-way-house between the lovely if perhaps agricultural straight 6 541, and the slightly later Interceptor which also has a big

I had a company Alfa 147 Selespeed. Glad the bills weren't mine. Lovely car though.

My Dad had an Interceptor in the 70s. I loved it, and when I was old enough to drive and had a few shekels I considered getting one for myself, but he warned me off the idea - he reckoned a dreadful car in every way other then the styling.

Back in 2002 I nearly bought a Mercedes C32 AMG estate. I did the deal, paid the deposit and couldn’t sleep that night so I knew it was just wasn’t right. The dealer was great and gave me my deposit back. I bought a BMW 330i touring instead which we ended up keeping for 7 years, so I made the right decision.
