I think you're getting mixed up with the Small Faces. The Kinks did 'Sunny Afternoon'.
But The Kinks are hardly forgotten are they? They are one of the most respected bands in British rock history, and if anything their reputation has grown and even albums that were panned or ignored at the time are now regarded as classics... one of my favourites bands.
The Small Faces on the other hand, still don't get the praise they deserve...
You're right FM.
Lazy Sunday Afternoon is the one I meant ...must learn that I can't rely on my memory these days. I spent many Sundays in Dundee as a first year student listening to Annie Nightingale.
it was a good way to keep in touch with friends at other universities as we didn't have a phone and couldn't afford call-box charges for chats- used to write letters [by hand, can you believe it!] to each other.
We hand-write to our children at their university [and my dad who is profoundly deaf so can't use the phone]. It's still very exciting to receive a letter back...much more fun than an email- also does wonders for their grammar, spelling and comedic style!
...but I digress...
