Ooooh! Which album(s)?

I saw them live several times, including one gig at Leeds (Grand? - can't remember the name for sure) which was recorded, probably along with others, for Live! in the Air Age.

John

They used to practise in Methley Church Hall... if my memory serves me [FM get googling!]

John

"No Trains to Heaven" - still my favourite guitar solo.

Barclay James Harvest.
The Alan Partridge Project (Ahaa! - OK maybe it was Parsons)
The Wonderstuff
Smokie
Half Man Half Biscuit

Where are any of that lot now?

BJH are still on the go; in the late 90s they took a sabbatical which was in reality a split. Les (bass) and Mel (drums) went one way, John Lees (guitar) got back together with original keyboard player Woolly. There were the two versions of the band releasing albums and touring, then Mel died of a heart attack. Both versions are still on the go - John Lees' BJH (JLBJH) is currently on tour.

Woolly also works 'solo' every now and again with his 'Maestoso' band, touring and putting out albums.

Have a look at www.bjharvest.co.uk for more info.

Johnny Echols is still going. And he still hates Arthur, apparently!

Bit sad if he still carries that around even after he's dead. I had the good fortune to see Arthur Lee on one of his last visits to the UK. He was still utterly charismatic and brilliant - an in surprisingly good voice.

Whatever happened to Chesney Hawkes?? Huge in about 1990, then he disappeared! His hit "one and only" really was his one and only!

He did a second album - I know because a friend played bass on it (he was in a much, much cooler band, but cool bands often don't pay the bills...).

Just been up in the loft.... and it is sad that I have the majority of this stuff on "vinyl" *

One of the ones that moved me most Camel's "Snow Goose" one of my favourite "late night after the pub" sessions based on Paul Gallico's book.

*For the youngsters - think of a black CD about 12 inches across with a large cardboard sleeve which was often as much of a production as the album)

Oooooo... Rhyader Goes To Town  I love Camel. Andy Latimer is an excellent guitarist and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he's well enough soon to get back to the music.

Some live BJH clips from the 2006 Legacy Tour - I saw them in Edinburgh and spent a good hour or so talking to the various band members in the bar at the Queen's Hall afterwards. Great times! Little did I know when I was watching them play to 200,000 people at the Berlin Wall in 1980 that 26 years later I'd be chatting to them in a bar in Edinburgh...

Camel are great, 'A live record' which has 'snow-goose' from beginning to end live is ace! As for Be Bop Deluxe (good call Kirstie) ... 'Maid in heaven' contains one of the best lines ever...
Joe Jackson is hugely underated... Jumpin' Jive a great album.
