Joe Jackson's early output was just great, plus his double live album just cranked it all up to a higher level. I've bought some of his later stuff but it just doesn't do it for me.

I'll chuck in an eclectic mix of Tom Robinson, Klaatu and Fox, although the last one might possibly be not for musical reasons...

I'd recommend "Coming Of Age", the 1998 live Camel album, too. Probably contains some of the best live versions of some of Camel's classic tracks,eg 'Ice', with possibly Andy's most emotional guitar soloing from about 4.50 onwards:

ELO. Occasionally get played on Radio 2 but that's it. Jeff Lynne was/is a musical genius, The Diary Of Horace Wimp being one of the best.
Some of the former members still tour and play the music.

The Darkness. They came, they saw, they split. Superbly camp spandex hair metal band, Growing On Me still makes me smile.

Not really huge here, but Crowded House always produced good music.

Really? To me, he's always seemed an adequate producer with an annoyingly obvious 'style', and ELO were a bit of a sub-Beatles.

The only really great (and underrated) 3-letter band are XTC... discuss.

The only really great 3-letter band are Lau. But they're not forgotten (yet), and are definitely not under-rated.

XTC - no I never got them...I'll need some recommendations first. And not that dreadful 'we're only making plans for Nigel' either.

I was thinking more in terms of inititals, but then XTC isn't really a set of initials anyway, it's a contraction... never mind!

Not really huge here, but Crowded House always produced good music.

I thought they were OK and original up to and includin El Dorado. I really liked the second album. Then they just went very bland IMO e.g. It's A Living Thing was dire, almost sub-Bee Gees.

Gedge is still hanging in there and recording and touring as Wedding Present. They put out an album last year (produced by Albini no less) and can still pull in a pretty decent sized crowd.
