And Snapper by nature.....
I still don't understand why someone would want to kill an animal. If they are happy with it - lovely.
To eat it. If you're not a veggie, then you eat animals, and someone has to kill them. I think anyone who eats meat ought at some stage to have to kill their own, or at the very least, handle a dead animal that still looks like an animal, not a chop or a sausage. And no, I haven't killed one yet, so maybe that makes me a hypocrite, or maybe it means I haven't ever had the opportunity. As I said, I've certainly handled a carcass, so I'm part way there. And I looked after some sheep for my friend, on what was to be their last weekend, and then helped her drive them to the butcher. And ate the results.
A wild animal has had a better life than many farmed animals. Add a swift kill, and you have what I'd consider the very best ethical way to eat meat.
Cheers for the bird info Mr M. This chap today was catching them inside our visitor centre grounds, next to the bird table, which I thought was a tad unfair... Still, he was very competent, and I'm sure they all flitted off happy (from the look of it, he got a lot of tits).
