well, my new rack and pannier, one week on, is working great for me. glad i made the swap from a rucksack, but now i cant make my mind up whether to have the pannier on the left, or the right. decisions decisions........

If you're only carrying one, then the roadside is probably better. Makes your bike appear wider and thus encourages wider overtaking berth from drivers.

I carry two and spread the weight in both as my single pannier would fills easily and thus too much stress on one side.
