I hurt my left knee 2 days ago. I was walking along with my bike, did a slight twist and it just went!

Can hardly walk now, can't put any weight on it. If I don't move, it feels OK, but if I do I get intense shooting type pain along inside of knee (which stops if I stop moving).

I have booked an app. with GP for Tuesday next week, but what should I do in the mean time - just rest?

Cheers

Yep. You don't know what is wrong with it so stay off it until the GP has referred you to a specialist see you.

Torn meniscus was my immediate thought, nasty! I did mine 2 years ago, 5 months of limping, not being able to straighten and swelling followed by surgery.

Ice, rest, ibuprofen if sore/swollen. Do not cycle I'd say.

If you have private healthcare, I'd ask for an MRI and quite possibly a referral for physio and an orthopaedic consult.

Good luck!

Feel you pain mate...literally...did mine in yesterday. Hope it's not bad as it sounds and you make a quick recovery

IF you give NHS physio direct a call ( you can google your local centre) they will give you realisitc advice and organise a session if required. I had a similar injury, the doctor prescribed anti inflamitiries and advised a correct warm down after cycling but other then that thers not alot more they can advice.

My knee problem turned out to be my fitting on the bike so might be worth looking at your position.

I've been riding the bike for years so wouldn't think it's that. After just a few days I'm feeling a little better already - I'm hopeful for recovery within a month if I'm lucky. See what the GP says on Tuesday.
