I'm tempted to get this: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/pinnacle/lithium-three-2014-hybrid-bike-large-soiled--ec073582

This Pinnacle is a new bike that has been damaged in transit. The handlebars are badly scratched. See image. ---- isn't a big issue, to be honest. At £300 I could spend the extra £150-200 on upgrading if needed. It's just that colour, who wants to respray it for me? Thank you ^_^

Hi tibble89. Where "Up North" are you. I have a rather nice 52cm Scott S50 FB that looks and rides just like new if you are remotely interested.
It is currently on 140mm Thorn Cranks with triple Stronglight rings but it came on a double that will be going back onto the bike.

He's 6ft, 52cm will be rather petite

The green pinnacle is a perfect commuter colour, no need for a respray

As I'm getting bike from Evans, probably get from there.. mainly: lights, mudguards, lock & pedals(not clip-in). I'll probably carry a few tools and a pump, what about the lube & cleaning etc..?

The Scott is way too small for you. Don't be put off by things you read on the internet, not all of it is true! I would be tempted to have a look at the Boardman bikes in Halfords, they are excellent bikes. The shop soiled Pinnacle looks ok but again a bit heavy. The Ridgebacks are also good, if it were me I'd go for that.

Don't forget to ask evans to price match where possible. They have a link on their website

Shouldn't need lube immediately, baby wipes for cleaning

It'll presumably come with pedals so if not going clipless, wait and see

Comes with plastic BMX pedals, not sure they'd be too good once the rain start. Not sure what lock I'll be needing, most of the riding will be done to work. In 3 years I've only heard of 2 people having bikes stolen, although I generally only see maybe 10-15 bikes a day at work

I was hoping for higher spec, but even up to £600/700 a lot of the bikes don't seem to be that much different in the hybrid range. For my commuting to work it should be enough. If I decide to do longer rides then I'll have saved enough to upgrade the parts
