I got a Dawes Discovery 301 very very cheap. Just wanted a cheap bike to use for work. It needs a few bits which I'm happy to spend money on but I'm not sure what I need to buy... The wheel was out of alignment in the forks and upon closer inspection I could see that the forks were bent (wheel absolutely fine). It has rigid forks but all the measurements confuse me... 1"1/8 etc, taper this threadless that.. Also I need a brake and gear cable but how do I go about making the outer sheath for the guides.. Apologise if I sound daft but I've never done it before.

Whip the forks off and take em to a shop that sells Dawes bikes get them to match a set up. As for cable outers you can buy it by the metre then cut it to length but be aware that brake outer and gear outer are of different construction so buy both types.
