I want an entry level bike ...and if we start going regularly I will up grade - don't want to spend a lot for it spend 364 days of the year in the garage! But don't want such a bad bike it puts me off !
Tried the google thing before- but it is 'exclusive to halfrauds'- trying to find a comparable one but I can't even on Raleigh's homepage ...thinking maybe it is an 'Apollo' and halfrauds have paid to have a Raleigh badge stuck on (which might be a big mistake by Raleigh! - unless they are aimed at people like me - who might use it once and leave it in the garage and wouldn't really know the difference but know apollo are 'bad' - so won't get one ...)
BTW We have lots of keen bikers here -but we also have some parents who get bikes purely cos of the snob value...and only really use them for the 5 min cycle to school along the pavement... would never let their children out to play on their bike on their own in case it gets damaged, lost, stolen...
I think Apollo serves its purpose - my girls' first pedal bike was a pink one with a doll carrier and shiny tassles (the eldest chose it - probably cos I hate pink!) ...they loved it, learned to ride on it and I've just passed it on to a neighbour...its still going strong (did get some parents looking down their nose at it - and trying to convince me it was worth spending 4 x as much) - we live in a good area anyway but for example I have left propped up at the bottom of a steep footpath in a field, been on a walk for a few hours and come back thinking I hope its still there - but if not its £50 ...not sure I would have been so relaxed if it had been £300....

Best to go to Halfords and have a sit on a few. Unfortunately, they don't offer any sort of tesride. Make sure it's the right size, I'd go by how it feels for you to sit on and reach for the bars, brakes etc rather than the size they suggest looking at you
