I want to avoid getting punctures in the first place, and don't want to spend any/much time at the side of the road first thing in the morning changing a tube when i'm quite new to cycling. Hence the reason for looking for a better tyre to start with. I'll see how I get on though

This is perfect. You may order the tyres in 3 days time. Or in 6 months time. Or in 2 years.

You might want to sign a basic maintenance class. Evans do one if you can't find another near you http://www.evanscycles.com/servicing/bike-maintenance-classes

Changing a tube under an instructors gaze can be helpful.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Slime tubes would help at MTB tyre type pressures , they have a gunk in them thats supposed to seal a small hole before the tyre deflates.
Not my cup of tea but some people like them.

Hi, got my subway last night. Going to go on it today but noticed as I wheeled it into the house that there is a slight scraping noise on the front wheel, but only when it gets to a certain point. Should I speak to halfords today or is it something I could sort myself? Or is it normal?

Thanks

I'd take it back and get them to check the wheel is seated and rolling properly. I assume it has disk brakes?

Did the discount work out ok?

Hi yes it worked great, in fact I told them I had the discount and they just believed me. Didn't ask for the number. I joked and said I could have not bothered paying for it lol. Itch, another trip to halfords it is then. Thanks for the advice
