Hydraulic disc brake, mountain/road compatibility

hi,

following what conversion to the delights of recumbent riding I’m in the process of planning my second one😀😀😀

my next one is going to be a twin 700c. That means I have a really nice ultegra r8050 groupset I want to use. Though not with road shifters. The gearing I can sort by swapping over to bar end shifters. The question is though could I use the callipers with mountain bike brake levers? It’s a really nice groupset and I’d like to see it put to use.

I'm using Ultegra hydro brifters with Deore calipers on my gravel bike, and it works OK. There's no reason why it should work t'other way round.

Shinamo 2 pot calipers use the same size piston (22mm dia)

Worst case you have to go out and buy some MTB calipers, I've got a full hydro set for ~£40 before, so that would give you chance to save for something nicer.
