Aye, I think we were lucky. I know some friends who took 5 hours to get home. With very cold temps tonight I'll be taking the car tomorrow as well. Luckily my wife is off tomorrow, as all the local schools are closed tomorrow. Nice quiet roads...... hopefully

I have a friend up in Scotland who, as of half an hour ago, has been travelling for 10 and a half hours to get home, and has moved .4 of a mile in the last 2 hours... It sounds like real chaos up there.

Well, I made it in to work again today (car unfortunately). The roads were very quiet. There was certainly ice and snow everywhere, but everyone was taking it easy, so no major problems for me. I certainly sympathise with the stranded motorists. It's amazing that there were people trapped on the M8 overnight. That's a major road!

All the schools in Greater Glasgow are closed today, and to be fair, I'm not surprised.

Oh, and I did see a cyclist today.

The news had some good videos of George Sq, etc it looked like a ghost town.

Aye, I'm about to head home now. I don't think the roads are much better than yesterday. I don't think the temp has gone above about -7C here today!

I quite enjoyed my cycle in yesterday. Very quiet roads and cars were going very slowly. But not as slowly as on the way home. Glad you got back in a reasonable time Magnatom, the city centre was grid locked from about 2pm. I got 100 yards on the way back before I chose to get off the bike and walk. Glad I did as the roads were just sheets of ice. I'm now wondering if my 5 mile bike push will count for MyCyclingLogs  I reckon I still got home sooner than the drivers though...

Looks terrible up there, really feeling all your pain though the news. Cambridgeshire has twice in the last few years ground to a complete halt due to ice on the roads and everybody has a story to tell about how they were caught up in it, the unluckiest for 20 hours overnight.

Now, whenever the smallest snowflake falls on a work day everybody panics and the rush hour starts early clogging the roads. I live 7 miles out and if it snows I get the MTB out, its the only way I think I can get home if the weather turns nasty. I don't trust the roads or the buses to get me home.
