I definitely do not have the courage for going downhill that I did as a younger man. Another factor is that the centre of gravity of me and the bike combined has rissen somewhat which can only be a bad thing as far as handling goes. Much over 20/25 mph has me squeezing the brakes now.

That was done on a cheap mountain bike, done in winter in the dark with card coming the other way, was totally bricking it and shouldn't of been going that fast.
(The road was wet in places, had bends, gravel, and some oncoming traffic, together with the risk of wandering sheep from unfenced moorland.)
