Purveyor of fine nonsense
I mentioned to a friend that I go for a pleasure-ride (careful, Fnar!) every Monday evening in the Summer. He said he wanted to come!

I asked, "can you ride your MTB at about 15 mph for a sustained distance?".
"Yes", came the reply.
"Are you sure?"
"Oh yes!"

Anyway, we went out and about, down the trails and up the lanes, good and muddy fun was had by all for more than three hours, we did about 40 miles.

I spoke to him yesterday and his first words to me were, "I can't move".
"What do you mean?".
"I woke up on Tuesday and I couldn't move. I still can't move. My legs are in agony".

Lol!

Now I am definitely not the next Lance Armstrong; there are loads of fitter/faster people than me out there ... and probably a good many of them are on this forum! But his reaction was quite amusing anyway!

I tell you, I am evil.

You know, We'll all see a "nun on a Raleigh shopper" on our next ride and wonder why we never noticed them before! xx(

Was that your aim?xx(

Only, if you'd backed off a bit for him, he might have had a better experience, and wanted to do it again, and pretty soon been able to do just what you do....

No, not my aim at all! I asked him if he could keep up, he said yes, didn't complain at all during the ride. I would have backed off if he'd said something! I said "let me know if you want to go and do that again". He hasn't yet ...

I was once raced away from a set of traffic lights in my Fiesta by two nuns in a Fiat 127 (I won; they changed gear too soon).

Has anyone ever seen a nun on a bike? (They may ride in mufti, so we wouldn't know. Can you get lycra wimples?)

Yes actually. There is an elderly nun who rides around here on a rod braked Triumph Roadster.
