Anyone see the item on the noos about the Adventure Scouts who were camping out last night ? Don't remember where it was but the snow lay deep and crisp and a bit uneven .

One said he was cold in his sleeping bag, so got into his second and was OK .

I hate to break it to you, but your daughter is going to be excommunicated. No second chances, they're that kind of Brownie.

Just call the leader, tell her you cocked up. As with anything, the sooner you do it the better... at least that way you might be given a running start.

Quite so. This is an invaluable lesson in life for the child. Make her produce a 1,500 word essay on the ethics of the whole thing and she'll no doubt be promoted to Akela rank or similar.

In the best traditions of Scouting (and Guiding) your daughter thought of others before herself and sacrificed her tube to a starving OAP who hadn't been out of her house all week and had no food to sustain her?

When I was about five or six we went camping in the snow in the Lake District and I don't remember being cold, although this was Easterish so it may have been a bit warmer
