I'd make one observation on getting back from JoG (your last page):
"6 If you fancy a detour, take ferry to Orkney then Shetland, then a ferry to Aberdeen. "
Certainly Shetland is a detour. But unless the last day's cycling is kept short enough to ride back down to Wick (last train south - 1600, and the need to book a cycle space well ahead, and a challenge to then get the last flight south from there) then the ferry across to Burwick (summer) or from Gills Bay (6km away, all year round, currently 1845 sailing) and then the midnight ferry Kirkwall (Orkney Mainland) to Aberdeen maybe a geographic excursion but it's efficient in time. Finish at JoG at 5pm and in 15 hours a rider can be at either Aberdeen train station or its airport for the journey south. I was back in London 'at work' (with my bike) the afternoon after finishing at JoG at 1515.
