I think it is food poisoning , picked up a tub of icecream from tesco and thought it was a bit soft to scoop . That was about 3pm by 730 pm it was ww3 in my bathroom .

Probably not the ice cream. The minimum time between ingestion and, er, bathroom issues is 8 hours and more typically 24-48 hours. Vomiting, though, can be much quicker. Some food poisoning bugs such as campylobacter have an incubation time of up to 11 days but campylobacter doesn't normally give you a high fever.

My bet would be norovirus or a related virus - high fever, diarrhoea, vomiting. Basically feeling really rough for 48 hours, followed by a day or so feeling weak then back to normal. That is often not foodborne; just being unlucky enough to be in the vicinity of someone who is incubating the virus or near an area where someone has been sick, even if it has been cleared up.

had the same symptoms on a business trip to Glasgow last week, I ended up staying an extra day and hibernated in the hotel rather than risk the 5 hour drive home feeling like that...

Had that. Three weeks later I am still coughing. And still getting the occasional fever spike, especially at night.

I got it as well, just got really fit on bike and it hit me. Took four weeks to get rid of it. My fitness is coming back now and i feel much better now its gone.
